Last spring I attended a photography seminar aboard the Queen Mary and ever since the rich, warm wood panelling, Art Deco details, portholes, and all the amazing lines have been calling to me. I finally got the perfect opportunity to shoot a session on the ship and I loved it! Enter Katie & Steve who wanted to incorporate their love of travel into their engagement shoot. Perfect! Katie’s grandmother even sailed into this country aboard the Queen Mary once upon a time. I love it when there is a special meaning behind the location used for engagement photos. They absolutely should be personal in some way and for Katie & Steve, this was it.

Symmetry makes me happy.

I love these next two!

We started with some crazy thick fog and all of a sudden the sun broke through the clouds just in time to let me play with some fun shadows! Fog and beautiful blue skies all in one afternoon. I couldn’t have asked for better weather!

I want to marry this carpet.

I really loved the warm feeling in the hallways. We explored the ship and found some great nooks and crannies. Some areas were super dark so I pulled out my newest purchase…a $30 video light. The shot below utilized this amazing new little tool. It’s nothing fancy, one setting but the lightweight little buggers sure put out some great light!

Double love.

There’s that fog again! I love it!

I am very much looking forward to Katie & Steve’s wedding next year! These two are so laid back and sweet, I just know it’s going to be a great day.

The Queen Mary is one of my favorite places to observe the charm character of historical structures. Katie and Steve have been meshed into the artistic elegance of the structure. I love the way you encorporated the geometry of the ship around Katie and Steve’s loving gestures.
