Three for the Show

I’m a huge sucker for the Orange County Fair.  Every summer I spend way too much money and eat way too much fried food at the fair but I don’t care, it’s so much fun!  One of my favorite parts of the whole shindig is the art competitions.  Last year Branden and I promised each other that this year we would be sure to enter some of our photographs.  I entered the professional exhibition and Branden entered as an amateur.  I really have NO IDEA whether or not our work will make the cut but I think we both have a pretty good chance.  The hard part was choosing which photos to enter.  Oh man, I got down to the very last minute before I decided to enter three photos from three totally different genres.  Even then it was hard to narrow down, but my dear friend Derya is just such an amazing beauty that I kept going back to this photo of her.  So here is entry #1

For my second entry I chose something a little non-traditional.  The original photo was taken at the OC Fair last year and has been enhanced  by some fun artsy photoshop goodness.

Since we spent a ton of time at the zoo last year doing wildlife portraiture, I thought I’d enter this tiger shot.  It’s one of my all time faves and I thought it would be a nice departure from submitting something like a flower.

Not that there’s anything wrong with flowers…Branden captured this amazing shot at the Carlsbad Flower Fields and I love LOVE it.  Don’t you?  These next three photographs are Branden’s entries.  He took all of these shots regardless of the watermark with MY name.  I’ll make him up his own very soon, but overall he is a part of Melissa unding Photography so I feel like it works still.

This is still one of my all time favorite pieces of Branden’s.  I never get tired of looking at this photo of the adorable Kiki.

Lastly, Branden entered this cool shot.  He took this while we were in Jerome, AZ last summer.  All that was left of this entire building was just the facade!  Love it.

If you had to vote, which would be your favorite?  Cross your fingers for us!  If one or both of us are entered into the show it will be the very first public display of our photography…pretty exciting!  Over the years I’ve had a number of paintings in the show, even won 2nd place once!  Here’s hoping we make the cut this time around!  I’ll let y’all know as soon as I find out!

LOVE your photo entries!!!! Will have to make a point of visiting them and talking in a slightly inappropriately loud voice about how I "know the photographer"…
