Patty + Rudy – Engaged! Los Angeles Engagement Portrait Photographer

When I first met Patty & Rudy over our lunch at Souplantation, I knew pretty quickly that we’d  become friends.  They are just so friendly and easy going, right from the start.  These two are getting married in just a couple of weeks and we couldn’t be more excited to shoot their wedding!  But first, the engagement shoot.  I was thrilled and instantly inspired when Rudy called me up and said that they were thinking of their old high school for their location.  Rudy and Patty met at Bishop Amat Memorial High School 8 years ago and spent the rest of their time there as high school sweethearts.  There was a lot of reminiscing and it was so much fun to watch and photograph.  I’m so proud to say that Patty and Rudy seemed very at ease and we all had a really great time galavanting around the school grounds.  Here are a some of my favorite shots!

LOVE LOVE LOVE this shot from Branden.  The angles he finds while I’m off doing my thing are always so interesting and I love being able to show off his work too!  I can’t get enough of this one, I feel like it breaks the rules in just the right ways.  That’s my rebel, go Branden!

Hanging out by Rudy’s old locker.  This hallway is where they met for the very first time!

If there’s something Rudy’s amazing at, it’s making Patty laugh…all the time, and it’s adorable.

This was “their” tree.  How cool is that thing!?!

I was pleasantly surprised when the seemingly very shy girl I met at lunch a couple of months ago opened up and really had a lot of fun with the shoot.  As awkward as it can feel to have your picture taken over and over, they managed to just laugh it off and played with it.  I just love them, I really do!  Did you notice that it DIDN’T rain on us after all?  The sun popped out just at the right time for a little bit of lens flare.  Thanks sun!

There is no doubt in my mind that Patty is going to be one seriously beautiful bride.  I can’t wait!

Where they shared their first kiss.  So many memories, so sweet!  I didn’t realize at the time that I was separating them for the one shot they probably should have been close together and kissing, I’m kind of liking the irony of that.  I think too much, you know this, right?  Back to photos.

Her beauty is so quiet and understated that it just shines.  I can’t describe it really, she’s the effortless beauty, she doesn’t try too hard but it’s definitely there.  Pretty girl.

One last shot.  Rudy couldn’t see me at all without his glasses, but I can see that he looks fantastic : )

Rudy & Patty, you two look seriously amazing!  I’m more excited than ever to be a part of your wedding day!  I’m looking forward to seeing you both again!  Spending time with genuine, real people like you is exactly why I love my job : )  All my love, Melissa (and Branden!)
